Our team at Salumi are a young dynamic team who consistently strive for perfection! We’re mighty proud of them, so we want you to get to know them a little better…

Jake.

Heading up the kitchen is Jake. Jake has been on quite a journey with us, starting out as a Chef de Partie over two and half years ago and has since quickly risen to take over the reins as Head Chef. Jake has an ethos of simple food, cooked well, which matches Dave’s vision for both restaurants, meaning the pair quickly formed an formidable culinary team.

Dave’s cooking background has always been in fine dining, where he achieved numerous awards of Best Chef, Best Restaurant and mentions in industry guidebooks and national newspapers for much of his head chef career before teaming up with his Australian wife to bring that level of food into a much more relaxed environment, make it more accessible through Rock Salt Café in Plymouth.

Dave has been able to add a second site, Salumi Bar & Eatery to Plymouth’s dining scene. With a more approachable menu and convivial atmosphere, Salumi features a menu including crowd favourites and a well stocked bar with live music in the beer garden.

Chef Dave has a passion for flavour and it really shows in his food but he has a special interest in Asian flavours having travelled there for inspiration. He has managed to incorporate an Asian edge to some of his modern and more traditional British dishes on the menu which only adds to the uniqueness of his restaurants.
